History of the V16

2018 -V16 lights are validated by the DGT.

Various administrations recognize V16 lights, which were validated by the DGT as the most efficient to try to reduce the accident rate associated with vehicle stops on the road due to breakdown or accident; therefore, they were included in the Reform of the Vehicle Regulations through Ministerial Order PCI/810/2018.9

Royal Decree 159/2021

In March 2021, Royal Decree 159/2021 was approved for the replacement of the triangle by V16 type signs, which in 2026 will be directly connected to the DGT 3.0.3 cloud.

New Royal Decree 1030/2022

With the final publication of Royal Decree 1030/2022 of December 20, the new GEOLOCALIZABLE V16 emergency beacons can now be marketed. As you know, they will be mandatory as of January 1, 2026 to simplify and make it safer for users of the road network to signal accidents and mechanical breakdowns of cars and motorcycles.
